Books, papers, sites, and software for learning about Web search and related areas

The following resources have been useful to me while learning about Web search. E-mail me with suggested additions.

As I mention on my home page, this summer I plan to implement from scratch a simple distributed Web search system: distributed indexing, ranking calculation, and querying. I don't know if I can do that all in 3 months, but I'll learn a lot regardless. More info will be at freequery.org soon. If you're interested in hearing more, if you want to help out, or if you know someone else who would, e-mail me.
